There is a lot of fuel pumped out of planes for various reasons, and it isn't certifiable to be put back. Slop fuel. One of the perks of working at the airport and owning a forgiving diesel (like a Benz) is that you can often get free fuel, if you're quiet about it. We've heard from some of those here.
