I'd sue the dealership that recommended a practice that voided the
warranty. Are you sure it was a powerstroke and not indirect injection?
The powerstroke didn't have an IP, just an electric lift pump that sent
the fuel to the injector rails in the heads. The "IPs", so to speak, are
the injectors. The HEUI injectors pump the fuel into the cylinder. They
are electronically triggered and hydraulically powered with motor oil
from a high pressure hydraulic pump. They run like crap when the anti-foaming
additive in the motor oil gets weak. I would imagine that running crap fuel
could cost you a set of $300 injectors in rather short order.
