Stick to #2.
Jet engines won't run on #2, either, except for some of the really old
ones (like J-75s), and even then are very hard to start.
It's better then #1 (kerosene) and Mercedes diesels (made in the 20th
century) are certified to run fine on #1 OR #2 diesel. Many diesel
engines with other types of injection pumps WON'T run well on jet fuel
(or #1).
