On my 124.193, the mono-wiper assembly was very difficult to open up, lube, and put back together. Basically the entire motor / transmission / linkage assembly has to come apart, so one has to carefully scribe marks to get the timing right during re-assembly. On the later cars, I think there are some easily found phillips screws that allow one to get at the inner workings and clean / lube as required.
