What is the delineation between early and late models? I should do this
to the girlchild's car. I think it is a 95, I forget.

If I recall correctly, the early models had to be disassembled to get to the
gear train. Later models allowed you to pop the plastic cover off and get
right at the gear and rod/bushing. Made it far easier to maintain them.

On my 124.193, the mono-wiper assembly was very difficult to open up, lube,
and put back together. Basically the entire motor / transmission / linkage
assembly has to come apart, so one has to carefully scribe marks to get the
timing right during re-assembly. On the later cars, I think there are some
easily found phillips screws that allow one to get at the inner workings
and clean / lube as required.
