Have you checked your TPS switch? If the * does not come back after you
blip the throttle then you need to reset the TPS. That would cause the
high idle.

Subject: Link mk1 - High idle problem

I have a 1.6 with Link mk1 with an idle problem. Every now and then
when coming to a stop, idle goes up to 2000 -2100rpm and just hangs
there. When I turn on / off the A/C, it goes back down. Just blipping
the throttle after starting the engine is enough to set it off.
All settings appear to be normal, O2 at idle is in the 76-80 range, in
the rpm window, fuel is 5. Idle map is (30) and set at 28.
Idle % rpm is 27%, can't get it lower (the screw is turned in all the
way).
I cleaned the throttle body and air filter
Software is 26 jan 2001.
I solved it by turning idle map down to 18, but that does seem weird as
it never showed that behaviour before. Checked all vacuum lines and all
appears well.
Any ideas on what is causing this?

Frank
