I was recently having a similar problem. It seemed like the TPS was ok and I would get the * but sometimes it would take a while to show up. I noticed the throttle damper had a torn boot on it and testing it I found it was real sticky. replaced the throttle damper and the problem went away. The other problem it would cause is when I was rolling down off throttle in high vacuume in the fuel cut if I pushed in the clutch the engine would die.

Other thing I noticed is that just touching the accelerator makes it go up to 2K all by itself. Sometimes it comes back down, sometimes it doesn't ... Fuel zones at idle are set according to the manual and have worked fine since I bought the ECU, about 6-7 years ago or so, Bill? BTW Bill, are there still chips available for this ECU?
