Ah, so bushings are likely closer to "20-". You need to pull the boot
in the picture up to see if the play is in the joint under the boot or
maybe the bolt is loose. This should be pretty easy to isolate with just
wiggling things. I wouldn't buy any parts until you narrow it down.

Heh.. the road surfaces here wouldn't be up to the same standard as the
UK generally speaking, especially where I live ..
There is about 150k miles on the car.
Heh no, not replaced the bushings.. I say 10+ as I've had the car 10
years since Monday ;-)

Right.. will order inner tierods, no harm in changing them now anyway
whether worn yet or not.

Have just been out to the car to have another look with a spare pair of
arms to help me, def some slack
(about 2mm) in the steering shaft to steering rack joint, is there
adjustment available here?
Pic of the RHD joint attached, not sure if LHD is the same.

Bushings... *draws air in through teeth*.. hmm.. thats a whole new
thread, I'll get back to you when I've done some more
research. ;-)

Thanks again!
Steve

If the roads in Ireland are as bad as the ones in England I
wouldn't blame the little buggers for wearing out. How many miles?
PS Have you ever replaced the suspension bushings? If not,
you're doing a lot of rounding with that "10+" number ;-)

        Righto, will do.

Are the inners prone to wear?

        Thanks!

Rob has a good idea, throw a wrench on all the alignment
adjusters.
They'd have to be really loose to feel play by hand. I'd
vote for inner
tie rod ends. Have someone shake the wheels while you
feel inner ends
                through the boots.

Have you checked all the camber bolts?
