If my sister and I want to move into a house together, adopt disadvantaged kids, who nobody else wants and are being bounced from foster home to foster home, and raise them, why shouldn’t we be able to get all of the tax advantages, health care advantages, etc, as a “married” couple that does the same thing, but makes their own kids? Dan In my opinion you should be entitled to the same treatment as a married couple. It is Religious Nonsense that the STATE has incorporated into law that decides who may claim that status, and our laws are not supposed to be made or continued based on religious grounds. A secondary Federal status that you WOULD qualify for is Head of Household.
