There should be no benefit for ANY marriage or domestic partnership. The
government doesn't need to be in the business of subsidizing familys with
or without reproductive capacity. Subsidize the children directly.

You could take this further and say that marriage breaks are discriminatory
to single people because they are, in actuality. After all, single people
don't get deductions for children unless they file as head of household.
Single people don't require the building and maintenance of schools, unless
they also have children... However, the REASON for marriage breaks is
clear; married people usually have lots of family expenses, there has
traditionally been only one bread winner (although that is rare these days -
such
is the cost of everything), so married people had little money with which to
pay taxes; they hhave had more mouths to feed.

There is no fairness in the present tax system, but if we must tax some
people heavier, it is more reasonable, not equitable, but reasonable to tax
those who can most easily afford it, as those wealthy people are harmed the
least by paying taxes. Many wealthy people complain, but not due to
inequality in taxation; it is GREED that fuels their fire! Greed makes people
crazy, and poverty brings anger and depression. If you can find yourself
somewhere in the middle, you may also find happiness.
