I rationalize (a word which can carry some negative connotations) the execution of pedophiles based on their extremely high rate of recidivism, and the extremely high amount of psychosocial damage they cause to society. It seems pretty darn rational to me to remove them from society, by extreme sanction. ("Nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.")
