There is the rub mate. We all rationalize our thoughts and feelings and belifes. Some use ratioanlity to do so, others emotion, and yet others pure faith.
I would humbly suggest that you own rationalization stems from an emotional place particularly as you are yourself a father. Is it not also rational that keeping these people in prison for life would halt their recidivism? Why not that option then? Eascpecily when you take the time to rationalize why exactly killing other people is regarded in most places as immoral.
