You are a more graceful writer than I so I am surprised since I think
"green lace" a clumsy simile- green sounds wooden and unlyrical- so
I've tossed it already. Besides, a tree is a phallic symbol so the
whole thing falls apart quickly. Hard to know how to describe the
canopy of burst buds. There's chartreuse, emerald and hookers green,
of course. And maybe you are gently trying to scold or mock me- that I
can accept since I am a terrible self-editor so the wastebasket tells
me.
