I could not let this thought pass without comment.

Though Al was a genius, he was not infallible.  Yet this offering of
his is understandable given the man discovered the core of nuclear
power and lived to see nuclear weapons used against human beings.
Fortunately it has been the only such occurrence in our history and it
is likely to be the last (barring nut job radicals getting their hands
on one of the few that are left.)

In light of the latter, I consider Pakistan to be the most dangerous
nation on earth since they have a highly unstable and corrupt
government and around 80 nukes.
Also of note is the context, my source places this quote at 1947 [1], and according to one timeline of the cold war [2] this was two years after the Yalta Conference (cold war begins?), we (the US) dropped the bomb in 1945, and in 1946 Winston Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech. I think his reasoning was very relevant to the events of that time, and meant to serve as a cautionary tale in few words.
