I don't know other religions that well but I know the old and new testament frequently points out that all anyone needs for salvation is to look within themselves. I've found snips and hints that the other major religious books say the same thing. But it seems most people tend to get caught up in the rites and rituals rather than the realities. In summation, which is one of the reasons I like Pogo so much, we have met the enemy and they are us.
