There is difference between viewpoint and experience, in the first there is just an idea in the other there is the experiencing. I have known many people spending hours in the practice of concentration to achieve the experience, time which could easily have been spent on more essential activities. Also most people get so obsessed with the idea that they become carefree and start taking worldly matters carelessly, their priorities get skewed.
