The way you describe it, it's most likely in the ignition... If it only 
happens once, then it could be a loose contact somewhere --  hall sender? 
coil? ECU? It could even be a bad contact in the ignition switch itself -- 
I've had that happen to me, and the exhaust would bang so loud, 
people were diving for cover :-) Try wriggling all the connectors while the 
car is idling.
