Sorry for stepping in into this thread, but me and some fellows are writing
a playout system based on mlt.  For the moment I'm working on a port for
melted to java, which will extend melted capabilities (i.e. add filters and
transitions to an existing playlist in melted without using xml).  I would
like to know which requirements do you have in mind for your software
switch because I'm planning to include something like that in our
j-melted.  On the other hand, I will look deep into what you did with the
melted gui and webvfx as this is the next step after releasing j-melted.
