Thanks for your response!  Initially I thought about having melted as
playout for local files only and having other software which could switch
between melted's output and other inputs.  But melted has the ability of
loading almost anything, so... why having other piece of software handling
something I think melted can handle (at least the version of melted I have
in mind)?  If you load an xml which specifies a Decklink card as input into
melted, well, you're switching from recorded video files to live... Im
still thinking this idea and find no conns, just pros when thinking in
integrating soft switch inside melted.  That's why I asked you about your
soft switch requirements, to see if they would fit into my idea or I was
just crazy like a cow! :)

I already tried smelted and perhaps I will start using it in a few weeks...
