Hmm..

How about the MLUG compiling a nice how to for beginners? We could then 
send it to pc stores (I know we're all thinking of the same PC store, 
but I won't mention it here for the sake of advertizing) and they could 
give a copy to every client who purchases a Linux Box. Maybe even 
distribute free fliers to customers (have a mini stand with fliers and a 
"take one" stand.)

The how to itself would then direct people towards the MLUG for support 
etc...
