If the bump spring is in compression (under tension) it will also compress
the main spring. Shortening the bump spring so that no compressing force
is applied will allow the main spring to extend a bit more, but the
difference should not be a big one. If you really want to keep the ride
height exactly the same as before, I guess the only solution is either
a softer or shorter main spring as well.
