Manually sniping within the last second.
I tip my hat to you.
You're obviously collecting the appropriate genre.
Nothing strange about that, just a remarkable piece of gunmanship.

I am the individual who was the winning bidder for the "Buck Jones ‘Desert Vengeance’ Lobby Title Card" in last Sunday's Heritage Internet Poster Auction. My name is Phil Ayling and I have been collecting movie memorabilia in a small way since I was a child more than 45 years ago. I often bid on EBAY under the name Mr Oboe.

I joined MoPo so I could post this comment and I hope I got this right and don't create a lot of spam for people in their e-mails programs.

There were other items that I bid on in that auction (Sons of the Pioneers; Singing Vagabond; Robin Hood of the Pecos;Rebel Without a Cause; King of the Cowboys and Arizona Kid) all of which I did not win. I understand the sense of frustration at being "sniped" as it is something everyone has experienced who bids online. It has happened to me many times, when I mistakenly felt that I was the only one closely following an item. I also, however, see the value in it for the end bidder.

In any event, I thought you should know that if one were to decide not to participate in future Heritage Auctions based on some concern of foul play about this transaction during last Sunday's Auction, it would be unfounded.

The only thing that was extraordinary for me about the Heritage Auction this past Sunday, was that I had opened up two screens on my computer in hopes of getting both the Buck Jones Title Card and a Gene Autry One Sheet (Melody Trial). Those were the 2 items I had greatest hopes of winning. I bid on both of them in real time with mere seconds remaining and won both.

I don't know what that card normally sells for, but I will be paying $334.60. It had appeal for me, not only because early Buck Jones items tend to be among the best of "B" Western art, but because so few of them were ever made that reference "All-Talking" or something similar.

Thanks
