Jens, I agree with you pretty much, which is why I do state a time frame..
but everyone does not and they should not necessarily be penalized for it
10 days is a bit longer than expected mostly, but I have news for you
all - I buy lots of stuff and a 2-week delivery time from most
sellers does seem to be the average
In my case recently, I was out of town for near a week. My secretary
can't do all packing by herself because we recently sold 40x60s which
2 people have to roll up, so there were a few orders that took 14
days!! Of course, my buyers contacted me if I had not already noted
them, I explained, and they're happy - which is supposed to be the
correct result - happiness!!
but again, I do not believe that just because I have been paid just
now does not mean we have to stop everything & get that package out.
If that was the case, we'd have to raise our $9 domestic rate to
about $20 to cover individual attention and for my assistant to get
up & deliver. Only people who have been cowed by the fleaBay system do this

I have to agree with Kerry here. I am primarily a buyer and from my
point of view I would be quite worried if a seller took 10 days to
ship out my items without informing me in advance that this would be
the timeframe to expect. Of course if you *did* mention this as a
possible timeframe then I would be totally okay with it (I could
have opted not to bid in your auction if that timeframe was unacceptable).
The key is information. If you did not in the very least mail the
buyer and informed him that it would take some time before you
shipped things out, then I fully understand his actions. Because,
frankly, without any such information he would have no other way
than your rating to know that he was not in the process of getting
cheated (and even a stellar rating is no guaranty against that).
I fully appreciate that things sometime may take longer, but as a
buyer I would as a minimum expect to be informed about this.
All this is of course totally irrelevant if you already established
an expected timeframe with the buyer.

I have to say.. just from reading your time line-- between the time
the buyer paid you and the date you were planning on mailing was a
10 DAY spread. Why such a delay? if you had the $ in your account
on 4/26, that photo should have been sent on that day, or no later
than 4/30. (unless you informed the buyer it would be upwards of 10
days to mail a single photo).
You also didnt mention what the initial buyer's dispute was. and
after you had his money for 10 days with no item mailed, a hold
seems the right action to take. I would have been highly annoyed as
well. He paid immediately in good faith, and you chose to sit
around for 10 days doing nothing. Not good business. For all he
knew, you had taken his money and run.

Hi MOPO,
After 10 years of selling I finally got my first negative feedback!
If I were you I would avoid ebay id colonel_john_sheppard of Larry Casey
who may also go by Bob Morane, Clausse Laurent or wraiths. He collects on
Logan's Run.
This buyer paid on 4/25. I transferred the money to my account on 4/26,
wrapped the package on 5/3 and was planning to mail it on 5/4. I
logged onto
my Paypal account that morning to find that the buyer had filed a buyer
dispute which caused the money to be taken from my account and
placed in "held"
status. I emailed the buyer and told him that if he removed the hold, the
package would go out that afternoon. He insisted that I should mail the
package first. Within 24 hours, he had escalated to a buyer claim
and left me
negative feedback. I "resolved" the case by refunding his money. This on a
$17 photo that would have taken almost a week to arrive in France by
Global Priority in any case.
I have learned my lesson. In any case where a spurious complaint has been
made, I will instantly refund the money and hopefully cause the ebay sale to
be voided and avoid getting bad feedback.
Thanks, Michael, Cinecityposters</HTML>
