I decided to do a little dealing in movie posters after I retired,
admittedly more as a hobby than a business and just to keep me occupied. I
set up my own website and ran it for a couple of years, eschewing eBay, and
was lucky if I sold double figures in a year. I was eventually persuaded
(by my adult sons) to sign up for an eBay store, and sales quadrupled
almost immediately. I find there is a lot I don't like about eBay, but it
does seem to generate business. I can understand why 'seasoned dealers'
like Rich don't like it, but then again many traditional retailers have
found internet competition not to their liking. Also, I have sent posters
from U.K. across the world, including U.S.A., and found it relatively
trouble free and not too expensive, but then maybe that's just the Royal
Mail.
