After unhelpfully editing out Ham’s post, Platt made the irrelevant comment about DMB’s reply to Ham, August 19th 2007:

"Another gratuitous personal insult from the radical left Marxist fringe."

Ant McWatt commented August 21st:

I think DMB’s non-partisan reply was largely fair comment especially as you _do_ often take Ham to task on this forum about his misunderstandings concerning the MOQ. However, regarding your gratuitous personal insult about DMB’s post, that just indicates a relative lack of humour on your part and how much your mindset continues to be influenced (with little, if any critical analysis) by neo-con radio talk ideology and their narrow frame of debate. Quite disturbing to observe really.

Platt Holden replied August 22nd:

Yes, I understand that it is "quite disturbing" to a liberal to have a conservative
viewpoint expressed.

Ant McWatt comments:

No, what is disturbing is your continued uncritical use of the parameters set in debate by neo-con ideology rather than Zen orientated philosophy. This is MOQ Discuss, not Liberal/Neo-Con Discuss and there was nothing in DMB’s August 19th post to Ham to warrant the moronic comment "Another gratuitous personal insult from the radical left Marxist fringe."

Platt Holden continued August 22nd:

Liberals would love to shut down talk radio, a frightening wish remindful of a dictator's first move -- silence opposition.

Ant McWatt comments:

Yet another smear. Anyway, creating a silent, pliant opposition is more reminiscent of the likes of Nixon, Raygun, Bush, Junior and their political puppets (in South America, the Middle East and elsewhere).

Platt Holden continued August 22nd:

But, conservatives continue to win free elections, the latest in France.

Ant McWatt comments:

No doubt the majority in France will regret their error when their quality of life starts deteriorating in the near future.

Platt Holden concluded August 22nd:

There must be something to the conservative worldview that appeals to many. My guess is: individual freedom.

Ant McWatt comments:

My guess is: ignorance, propaganda, greed and/or an overly materialistic outlook.

For genuine freedom for the majority of individuals in the world (rather than a neo-con minority in the West) and a reduction in government interference (one of your pet desires), I'd look towards some MOQ orientated system of political anarchy with a small dose of Northrop and environmentalism. (Note the absence of the word “Liberal”).

“When George Bush was asked who was the greatest philosopher in the world he said: ‘Jesus Christ.’”

“Right there I thought: ‘My God, we are going to need Jesus Christ if this guy gets elected!’”
