My point is 'western culture' has subverted Lila
into a prostitute to be intellectually and socially,
etc... finished off over and over without any care as
to who Lila is. It is to rip her apart into what
humankind can subdue from her. Humankind in the west
wants to see her cleavage, wants to see pairs. She
has been twisted in the west into an evil witch to
blame. Yet, in innocent origin, as the Hindu version
still retains, Lila is 'nonduality', which I
understand to be kin if not the same as 'equality'.
The west, long ago in history, tattooed Lila, rid her,
and then demanded an Eve. The east still retains this
original Lila, maybe not always in society, but her
story remains in its' expanded version to be
understood. Pirsig drove into prehistorical wreckage,
and allowed Lila to rejuvenate in the west.

Yes, "irrespective of which gender", and yes "a
kind of qualitative threshold" would be crossed in the
west. What of Thatcher? She is a woman. Yes indeed,
and it would seem the British notice leadership, not
gender, in this case. Is the creativity of the female
to stand side by side with the male in union/yogi?
