Ian and all:

SA said to Ian:
Squonk introduced babies when he said they are the same as Zen masters.
..careful now, ..steady,

dmb says:
Leaving aside the dark humor about flaying or cutting off the noses of babies,
it really does seem that Squonk's experiment would deprive infants of sensory
experience. After the mutilation jokes, in the sentences that followed the
phrase "But seriously", there was a detailed explanation of my objections.
Mostly, I appealed to developmental psychology and had moral objections. Squonk
continued to defend the idea and replied, saying, "re. Crimes and ethical
nightmares. This is your view. Thank you for stating it."

I can see why you'd assume it was an unfair, twisted version or some kind of
rhetorical trick, but if you follow the thread you'll see that it is the actual
case he's making, to keep the babies pure and free of static patterns. I think
"madness" is a reasonable word for that stance. Don't you think? Is there
anyone who thinks otherwise?
