But I see Arlo has picked-up the "identity" question ... I'd agree
with the general point it's not about a name, or even a zip code or
phone number - they can all change - it's about the constancy and
consistency (or not) of many overlapping patterns ... mainly patterns
of text and "behaviour" in e-mails, since we are an e-mail forum, with
little else to go on.

Are you naive to expect trust and honesty betweeen posters ? No you
are not, but trust has to be earned (whatever anyone's name).

Ian

Ian,

Twenty years ago I might agree with you that trust has to be earned. Today I'm willing to believe people will be honest. I understand that people make mistakes and every set of patterns has a different experience and therefore may perceive a different truth. But I want to believe people are being as honest as possible. It provides a better living experience. Of course I have been mistaken, but so what. I acknowledge that death may be an instant away, and I don't want evaluating trustworthiness to dominate my experience. Besides, intuition really directs my interactions with the world. So I don't really think much about it. Well, except for now in this forum. But I'll get over it.
