been thinking about emergence, it is a good, perhaps excellent, metpahor for DQ.
"in philosophy, systems theory and the sciences, emergence is the way complex
systems and patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple
interactions. Emergence is central to the theories of integrative levels and of
complex systems." wikipedia
in the moq we have levels that supervene on one another. that is to say the
inorganic level is integrated within the biological level which is integrated
within the social level which is integrated within the intellectual level
(....which is integrated within????)
the higher levels show emergent properties that are not deducible/predictable
from the properties/interactions of the patterns of the parent level. the
discrete nature of the MOQ levels highlights the non-continuous nature of this
process of emergence.
in the MOQ we call the force/agency that accounts for the evolution of novel
elements DQ. but what are we saying? we can't define DQ but we can examine how
it operates.
we have evolution the wrong way round. we think, usually, of evolution being a
process that runs from past to future, and this causes the confusion: how can
new shit just come out of nowhere? (random mutations is an explanation that
doesn't stack up, when are we gonna drop that turd?).
if we look at evolution as being teleological, and the MOQ does of course, what
we are saying is that we are evolving *towards something*; ie the future in
some way is already known, it is dreamed first and this dream is the attractor
that pulls evolution towards it. we know in the MOQ that the future and past
are left brain projections that we use to order timeless immediate reality, ie
we know that time and space are patterns not absolutes, therefore we know that
we have access to all time, now. this is the realm of dream of myth of magic.
and it is this realm that literally gives birth to the world, every moment.
amazing that myth equals falsity in our modern language, when it is the
keeper/creator of truth.
the hindus say we go through 26000 year cycles of forgetting and remembering,
forgetting and remembering...we are at the very end of one of those cycles now.
