[Platt]
You bet chance and DQ are different. The former identifies ignorance of
underlying cause. The latter identifies speechless, wondrous surprise.

[Krimel]
Chance allows prediction or reduction of uncertainty in the absence of
complete knowledge of underlying cause. As we have come to understand,
complete knowledge of underlying causality is impossible. DQ may produce
speechless wonder and surprise it may also produce horror, disgust and dred.
All are responses to change and uncertainty.
