Andre: Can't agree more Platt. This requires wisdom. Let's insure that our 'intellect' gets the priorities right...and if Bodvar's SOL argument is correct then this is going to take a while yet and 'human rights' remain under constant threat. Especially now. In Holland I see a desparate clinging to Aristotelian logic in order to save the monetairy system. Human rights and accomplishments (pensions/benefits/hard-worked-for securities/ retirement age/ job security/ quality of care/education) on the slide ...sure, these are social PoV's but the intellectual level needs to addres these issues and come on top of them,... otherwise it will go bad, very bad. You cannot leave your parents in the cold in order to save a social/biological pattern based on greed, egotism, selfishness and division. But I think that this is the core of the problem: SOM, and most of its derivatives ARE social/biological level thinking (arguing, justifying and reasoning). Total solipsism,... self gratification as a continual feedback loop to reinforce and regenerate its own image and justification of itself. An absolute mindless dynamism which Pirsig suggested was and is mindless. You cannot trace the pattern exept for the feedback-loop...the giant feeding upon itself...re-inventing itself everyday of the week, patterns and fashions returning every twenty years or so. Same clothes, different names for the same thing, hairstyles, ideas, philosophies, popular scientific breakthroughs (removing pimples from your face), personal development programmes, effective management techniques, holiday destinations with a difference (try the local tea) to reassert the right-ness and alleged newness of what we are on about. It is all one great big social/biological wank. The exploitation of a continuous stream of static patterns. Ohhh, there is soooo much invested in keeping these static patterns going, sooo many vested interests. The WORLD FAMOUS ORIGINAL JUNGLE QUEEN' over and over again (Lila,p132). Anything even remotely dynamic, immediately absorbed within its own tentacles, to be exploited, cast in a mode of profitability and prostituted in the process. Organic stuff objectified, social stuff consumerised, clientised, partnerised,patientised, victimised,criminalised,subsidised, womanised,legalised, culturalised,touristised, quietised, emphasised, nullified, systematised, subjectified ...objectified. SOM objectifies everything exept itself because it does not see or recognise itself. It is its own feedback-loop. It is a miror of itself. A creation in its own image and of its own image. And it has done a great job convincing everyone that this is the way.This is reality. Except for a few...the bleeding hearts and artists. I wish I belonged to one or the other...but I don't.
