[Marsha]
Is it that the self (static patterns of value) is a constituent of
Quality, but too often mistakes itself for the generator of Quality?

[ron]
I like that Marsha.

[Krimel]
I like it too except that sometimes the self is a generator of Quality.
Sure we are mistaken a lot, but every once in a while don't you look at
something you have done and say, "It is Good."

Ron:
I agree, positive feedback loop.

[Krimel]
Just to be nitpicky but without negative feedback to dampen it, a positive
feedback loop oscillates out of control back into chaos. But it may just be
that I have more experience with negative feedback. I look at most of stuff
I have done and say, "It is shit." Maybe it is just the lean schedule but I
have found a little bit of positive feedback goes a long way.

[Willblake2]
A positive feedback loop oscillates itself into chaos, or back into chaos.
 This topic seems interesting.
I was wondering if there was a breaking point, and what causes it.  Is it
possible that chaos is a
very complex positive loop, or perhaps just a loop iteself?  I need to brush
up on Chaos theory,
it's been a while.  Like, where is the distinction between chaos and order.
 How does Chaos apply to
Quality.  Sometimes I think that all forms of thought are rooted in Quality.

[Krimel]
At least as I understand it, order emerges from chaos. Order is a subset of
chaos. But a really deep answer to the question is that order is a
perceptual phenomena. It is the results of our effort to extract meaning
from experience. We detect patterns or common features of our experience. By
comparing immediate impressions with past experience we construct categories
for classifying experience. These categories are discrete patterns derived
from the continuous flow of experience. They are our way of imposing order
on a dynamic flow. We create a static foreground out of the dynamic
background. But as you can see by reading these threads a whole lot of
confusion comes from confusing our categories for the flow from which they
are derived.

As a side note I think that the result of a positive feedback loop depends
on what is looping. With a microphone and amplifier, for example, it depends
on how robust the electronics of the amplifier are and how well the speakers
are built. But regardless of how well they are built, they will eventually
destroy themselves in a nonlinear fashion.
