hi gav i use that metaphorically of course. there is no "my" self. maybe better to say it is essential to work. period. just work. and by that i don't mean shoveling coal for a penny a pound. i mean mindfulness. just work. then, it doesn't really matter if you are working for the 'man' or for the person you see in the mirror every day.
i like a roof over my head... keeps the rain off my stuff plus i have these routines. you know, like sleeping, eating, crapping, other such human nonsense, and i'd rather do it inside than in the weeds. so i bought a house. cash money. worked for it. every dollar. now i have to pay the county every year to keep them from taking it away from me. they call it property taxes. if i don't pay, the county sells the taxes to someone who will. and gives the house to them. now i ask you: ain't that some shit? anyway, good chatting at you. dan On Sun, Feb 21, 2010 at 8:12 PM, gav <[email protected]> wrote: > thanks dan, > i agree man - work, for yourself, is essential. work, for someone else, and > its second best by a long way. > > reminds me of a guy i met travelling through czech republic about 5 years ago > - vaslav. looked like a aryan god or something - just glowed. saw him walking > down the street and was like 'jeez that dude is cool' - my girlfriend agreed > wholeheartedly. > > anyway later we get to meet the guy cos he knows the girls that run our > hostel and she suggests vaslav as a weed contact. > > so we go find vaslav - he is doing carpentry work for a small bar/cafe down > the road. apparently he is a whizz wizz zee wood. > > we get chatting and he says he has a little bit of leaf and gives us some and > won't accept cash - none at all. we talk more and he reveals he doesn't > accept cash for anything he does. he works when he needs to and accepts > things in exchange. he doesn't drink or smoke tobacco, lives in the forest > most of the time and has a fondness for those special mushrooms. the dude was > very unusual and vivid. > > my girlfriend and i went back to the hostel, found out what he liked to eat > from the girls there, and returned with a mega sandwich for him for lunch. he > was stoked and then gave us another present: a weird looking rock that i > managed to lose in barcelona when my bag got nicked. this rock was unlike > anything i had ever seen - orange and black, reminded me of some david gemmel > books.... > > > > --- On Mon, 22/2/10, Dan Glover <[email protected]> wrote: > >> From: Dan Glover <[email protected]> >> Subject: Re: [MD] Capitalism: my experience >> To: [email protected] >> Received: Monday, 22 February, 2010, 11:27 AM >> gav, you're always gonna get that >> stupid shit from people... you need >> to work for money cuz its more efficient. the money has >> nothing to do >> with it!
