Hi Dave,

I think what he meant was stated in another quote, "You come in with an 
overall image which you don't want to define except through working 
towards it. . . Yes, it's a risk."   One would start and then allow application 
with feedback to move you forward.  No preliminary drawing or plan to 
work towards.  That seems perfectly honest way of working, and he seemed 
very honest.  So simple.  And I liked when he said, "The paintings should 
be a re-creation of an event rather than a reproduction of an object."  An 
event.  Sounds like Quality.   

But geez, I don't want to intellectualize such a beautiful, straight-forward 
expression of his method.
