Hi , Ron.

Not really no,what Neo Darwinism unveiled is that in biological evolution
there is no such thing as free will, probability , yes,but this was already
known by
Darwin himself.
Free will is not to be found under a microscope, free will can only survive
by
the subjective judgement of the observer, what one will concider as free
will, another person
will call it a doctrine of nature.

Pirsig just assumed that normal persons would understand' intellectual,'
without defining the word. They did not, and they don't.

Free will is like Creativity, art,Quality, all infinite definable by words,
but undefinable if we add
"Time", proceeding time will make free will outrun its own
defenitions=>dynamic Quality,
Think of the implications of the link i showed to mark about Hawking's work
on the arrows of time.

An Example?
Say a person in Amerika likes to meet up with a person living in Bora-Bora.
They never heard of eachother, not they are aware of the location to
meet....
What do they need to meet-up? the exact location,ie, longitude and
lattitude,...and time, yes
not only they need to know the location of the appointment, but also the
hour of...meeting.

Without this knowing of the hour, they will miss the appointment.

So the free will to meet, depends on 4 variables/observables here.
The so called free will to meet.
longitude
lattitude
time.

Free will , by choice of nature, is an illusion.(its only a macroscopical
event)
We can step outside and take an umbrella with us , if it is raining, by an
act of free choice.
We cannot step outside, and simply demand good weather, and make it happen
by an act of Humanly induced free will.

And btw, Ron, Darwin is never boring.
ceeya.
