In his 2005 summary of the MOQ, Pirsig said:

"The Metaphysics of Quality itself is static and should be separated from the
Dynamic Quality it talks about. Like the rest of the printed philosophic
tradition it doesn't change from day to day, although the world it talks about
does."

Marsha replied:
A major premise of the MoQ is Quality(Dynamic Quality/static quality), how can
you really separate it in any meaningful way? Do you? ... Walk the talk, or
shut the mouth.

dmb says:

Well, that's Pirsig explaining how you should separate the MOQ's static talk
from the DQ it talks about. Are you saying that Pirsig's explanation of this
distinction is meaningless? Seems to me that you're asking the question in
response to the answer, which is weirdly backwards. You could object to the
answer or criticize the answer. But to simply ask how they can be separate in
response to a statement about how they can be separate is like a bad joke, a
parody of obliviousness.
