Steve: No, that's still not it. Compatiblism is not the position that free will begins where determinism ends. That is just the incompatiblist free will side of the free will/determinism debate. No one who believes in free will means that they could choose to fly if they wanted to as a matter of free will. Such constraints are taken for granted among all incompatiblist free will defenders. Compatiblism is to say that the two ideas that you think are mutually exclusive (free will and determinism) are not in fact mutually exclusive. Please read the SEP article to understand this point.
