[Platt]
Radio was invented by "private interests," not government bureaucrats. And
without those and other "private interests" investing their time and effort,
the spectrum would be worthless.

[Case]
Radio was "invented" by Tesla and/or Marconi. Their "invention" was based on
research conducted by Maxwell at the University of Cambridge and Hertz at
the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. Both Maxwell and Hertz sucked from
the public trough.

[Platt]
As for "the public interest," when you hear that phrase being used to
justify another government program, run for your life.

[Case]
Every time I hear that Reaganesque sloganeering, I am too over come by the
need to vomit to run.

[Platt]
Every dictator that ever lived came to power appealing to "the public
interest."

[Case]
How utterly ridiculous! Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, hell even
Raygun came into power appealing to "the public interest."

> [Case]
> There is no requirement that wealth must be created privately.

[Platt]
How else can it be created? Slavery?

[Case]
It would really help if you paid attention. Highways and public works are
wealth created through public investment. Natural resources like rivers,
seashores, the air and the electromagnetic spectrum are wealth that was
created by God. Are you calling him a capitalist?

[Platt]
You can't "hold" what hasn't first be created.

[Case]
There are a variety of ways that wealth can be created, capitalism is just
one of them.

[Platt]
You cannot spend "public money" without it first having been confiscated
from private wealth. What you "exploitation" is simple justice.

[Case]
I am developing a serious allergy to this line of bullshit. Would it really
do any good to give you another civics lesson or to point out once again
that no one forces you to participate in the system?

[Platt}
The activities of the police and military stem from the essential nature of
government as legalized force which can be used for good or ill. It's been
my sorry lot to endure your inability to make such distinctions.

[Case]
I don't think I am the one having difficult making distinctions here.

[Platt]
As for insulting government workers, far from it. They are the smart ones.
If I had my life to live over, I would seek government employment. Then I
could say that I devoted my life to "public service" and retire with a many
more benefits than I have now.

[Case]
Ahh, the damnation of faint praise. So basically you don't like public
servants because you are jealous?

I don't agree with Ian's objections to your posts but God help me I
understand them. It would not be so bad if you at least advanced something
new every once in a while.
