Sounds like a born again Christian.

[Arlo]
Really? I read that post as 100% MOQ.

"Only birth can conquer death—the birth, not of the old thing again, but of
something new. Within the soul, within the body social, there must be—if we
are to experience long survival—a continuous “recurrence of birth”
(palingenesia) to nullify the unremitting recurrences of death.

Sounds like DQ/SQ to me.

"When our day is come for the victory of death, death closes in; there is
nothing we can do, except be crucified—and resurrected; dismembered totally,
and then reborn."

As for this, its the same sentiment wrapped in the language of myth.

[Platt]
But, as long as we're quoting Toynbee, here's one related to Quality decline:

"Of the twenty-two civilizations that have appeared in history, nineteen of
them collapsed when they reached the moral state the United States is in now."

[Arlo]
And I'm sure it scared the Romans as much as it is scaring you. In a thousand
years, lines of all nation-states will be redrawn. If we are lucky, man will
have evolved beyond the need for nation-states. But in only a thousand years,
that seems highly unlikely.
