We have a room at the back of our learning center/library that is filled with multiple copies all leveled with DRA leveling system since DRA is what we use for our reading assessments 3 times a year. The books are organized by levels only. All non-fiction, poetry, fiction, chapter books, etc. are mixed together. All the books are bar coded and computerized so we just check them out like a regular library book. This system works really well. At the end of the year we return the books. The librarian will check through the books for repairs or we will indicate a book needing repair with a sticky note on the cover. The librarian along with a para educator and parent volunteer shelve the books. Since all books are in the computerized system it's easy to know what the inventory includes and who has books out and who needs to return them. It's a pretty efficient system. I teach in a pre-K - 2 school. With the exception of the pre-school there are 6-7 sections of each grade level each year.
