Okie. Comparisons it is.
NC 4.77: Mail window, Navigator open to pgp.com.
Data KB = 8,524 Code KB = 11,808 Total = 20,332
Moz 2001042604: Mail window, browser open to cnn.com
Data KB = 26,616 Code KB = 10,632 Total = 37,248
IE + OE: one browser window to a local frameset (almost 0 graphics, some
javascript). and one mail window.
Data KB = 15,768 Code KB = 26,478 Total = 42,246
That last one is thrown in there, not as a fair comparison, but to give
a BASIS for comparison with a two-app system for browser/mail usage.
And note that I'm not counting any "hidden" resource usage here because
that usage is present no matter what browser I'm using.
Are there any numbers I should be including here that I'm not?
All numbers are from TaskInfo2000 and is based on a basic trust of the
information that application provides.
Justin H.
P.S. In the time it took to write this email (20+ minutes since I'm at
work), none of the numbers above jiggled more than 1 or 2 KB in either
direction for any of the apps.
