It'd be nice if the synchronization process was completely independent 
of the "user thread" -- i.e. the user can go and change folders, view 
messages as the synchronization is happening in the background. I would 
guess that's what is planned. The background sync thread could 
prioritise the order that it downloads stuff (e.g. headers first, then 
small messages, then large messages). Is this just a rehash of what 
you're saying? :-)

If we had the ability to create email filters based on the message size, 
it'd be simple enough to create a folder for "large messages" and just 
not mark that folder for automatic synchronization.
