Well, they are called nightlies for a reason...because things are
changing *DAILY*. So if is broke today, wait awhile and it will get
fixed. If you are using non-release versions of Mozilla for your daily
"important" tasks...well, lets just say that isn't recommended.
But what you should really understand is that Mozilla *is not* intended
to be used by Joe-Average enduser. It (Mozilla) is primarily a platform
(a damn good one I might add) for *others* (companies and/or
individuals) to build a Browser/Mail/News/IRC/Calendar/etc package. In
general these "Packagers of Mozilla" are smart enough to use official
release versions that are then tweaked to add/remove their own desired
features. This is precisely how Mozilla is intended to be delivered to
Joe-Average enduser.
The most obvious example of a "Mozilla Packager" adding a feature that
Mozilla does not have would have to be NS6's spell checker. The spell
checker in NS6.x is *PROPRIETARY* and not 'open source' and as such, can
not be included with Mozilla source/binaries. Netscape is totally
welcomed to do this because they are taking Mozilla and *repackaging
it*. This is essentially the same thing that happens when
Redhat/Suse/<Insert_Linux_Brand_Here> take the official Linux source
tree and configure/package/sell it as their *brand* of Linux.
Now, if one is not a Joe-Average enduser...then they should be aware of
the inherent risks associated with using nightly builds and take
personal responsibility *when*, and not complain *if*, something goes wrong.

J Mosser
