I'm with Tim on this one -- maybe it's my lack of proportion ;-) The
creekside area really doesn't need (and in some areas, is too narrow to
support) trails that are 8 - 10 feet wide.
Annie Young's response is greatly appreciated -- it's good to get numbers
and facts about the project.
I don't think the Strib can jump on me too hard for this fair use quote
from their 1999 article: "Of the $3.25 million, $2.7 million has been
tentatively approved to come from a federal transportation fund designed to
encourage the use of alternative forms of transportation." I'm really glad
that the Park Board went ahead and leveraged additional funds for this
project, but I'm wondering if there's any possibility that we could get
some sort of variance from the program (I think it's ISTEA? sounds like
Ice Tea, anyhow, when people talk about it) as far as width requirements
go. Has anyone from Parks talked to Sabo's office about this?
