Hello Minneapolis Issues Folks: David Brauer Wrote: "I'm saying a local resolution isn't an effective tactic. I personally believe the resolution is a cheap symbol, devoid of effectiveness."

I even consider him a friend and have pictures of him in compromising positions to prove it(Ok I made that up). I realize writing this will probable have little impact on his opinion or others, but believe it is still important to respond. I have heard numerous politicians for many years including Paul Wellstone and Martin Sabo state that locally elected officials opinions are extremely important to them related to federal issues. They believe city council members, county commissioners, mayors, state legislative folks have a better grasp on their constituents opinions. And thus listen very carefully to direction given from local leaders on how to respond to federal issues. I believe an anti-war resolution is extremely important and would sends a message to federal officials that they often ask for. I don't believe speaking to our federal officials in this way is "cheap symbol, devoid of effectiveness!" I do not complain that David and others believe discussions about their favorite restaurant in Minneapolis does not seem relevant to discussion to me. I do not enjoy those discussions anymore then WCCO's in-depth reports about the TV Show Survivor. When its my television news I change the channel and when its Minneapolis Issues I delete the message. Those of us who believe an anti-war resolution is important for discussion are told it is not relevant or germane to the list or the city of Minneapolis. Its hard for me to understand that discussions or resolutions about the war are not related, and thus important to the future of our city. What seems more important for discussion related to the future of our city, anti-war resolution or best place to go for happy hour in Minneapolis? Lets have a vote: I will cast the first vote for Anti-War Resolution! Ken Bradley Corcoran Neighborhood 612-728-8962 __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
