Stadium I will give my answer to this. Where ever Carl P wants his stadium is fine by me, Mpls, St Paul, where ever. Carl needs to pay for it, its for his team, and his benefit. then he can use it any way he pleases when not used as a stadium. Why should I the taxpayer pay for his overpaid babies to have a luxury playpen that attracts a lot of traffic and trash to my fair city. If Carl had to build his own stadium I bet he could do it for less than 200 million, but since he wants the taxpayers to do it, it will surely cost 400 million or more. WHY? Now you all may have noticed that I seem to not be a sports fan, and that is correct. I grew up in sports town, and liked having it around even though I did not go. I have been to one twins game, and that is my limit. I would prefer the twins stay here, but they need to pay their own way in the world like I try to do. Taxpayers paying for a stadium is nothing more than corporate welfare. All that money could benefit many more persons if put into housing or job creation. Ron Leurquin Nokomis East

I thought the whole idea was that a countywide funding instrument would be used. The plan they have proposed doesn't leave any surface parking (as opposed to what is there now) and leverages existing infrastructure like the municipal ramps, I394, and LRT as connection points. Also, a well designed baseball stadium (Wrigley Field)can definitely add to the neighborhood. I would also argue that the Rapid Park site surface lots do constitute blight in a downtown urban environment. What a terrible place to walk through right now! Are Minneapolis residents really against a ballpark in Minneapolis or are they just against the funding coming directly from their city? I think a distinction needs to be made since these are two different things.
