For any of you that are not aware, Milwaukee built a wonderful new stadium not
long ago. Team profits are apparently even lower now, and its for sale. Fire
type sale from what I have been told. Can we not learn from the example of our
neighbors to the east. A new stadium will not line Carl's coffers "enough" to
pacify Carl, or Red for that matter.

Then there is Pac Bell Park in San Francisco The following text is directly from their website:
http://www.ballparks.com/baseball/national/pacbel.htm
"Private financing: $100 million from naming rights, a $145 million loan secured by the Giants, and $10 million tax increment financing by the City's Redevelopment Agency.Financing: The ballpark is the first privately funded ballpark built for Major League Baseball since Dodger Stadium opened in 1962. No new taxes and no money from San Francisco's general fund were used to build the ballpark. The Giants lease the land on which the ballpark sits from the Port of San Francisco at a fair market value."
I saw this park in November. It is beautiful as stadiums go. My friends tell me that the locals love it and it really has inspired incredible economic growth and development in the surrounding area.
Hmmmm.....
