I don't think listing old hang-outs that were more attuned to your
personal preference than the current businesses are is making any kind of argument
at all. If the old Warehouse District ambiance is what suits your whim, as it
does mine, then simply roll for three minutes more across the river to Nordeast.

The argument (the current one anyway, I just wanted to ferret out the
anti-sports bias originally) was that Sports facilities create valueless ghettos
in their immediate radius (Mr. Driscolls definition included the Hennepin
theater district and Dayton's). I don't believe anyone has even approached making
that argument.

The fact that I don't enjoy strip clubs, sports bars or the abomination
that is Block E does not make those facilities "valueless". This seems to be
getting a little elitist.

Finally, the greatest place to ever exist on "First Avenue" is in a bit
of fiscal trouble. Please support this great club. I realize that many folks on
this list are so geezerly that they are approaching my age, but there's
still music for us being presented there. The brilliant Lucinda Williams is coming
right up.
