Given the decibel level of the smoking-ban debate and the civility of the language used by both sides, I can hardly wait for the other shoe to drop. That would of course be an attempt by the nanny class to prevent smoking OUTSIDE public buildings. On the other hand, it's not unimaginable that the nannies will opt for the Volstead strategy and try to criminalize cigarettes rather than smokers -- in which event we'll all end up inhabiting a smoke-free garrison state. O brave new world .
