First, list rules ask that complaints be directed to me off list.

Second, I've reviewed the thread to this point and detected only minor
violations. (Rep. Kahn's actions are clearly a Minneapolis issue, as she is
a Minneapolis representative.) Here are a few for all members to consider
when they post:

Steve Sumner's post advocating the Republican alternative to Rep. Kahn
seemed fine, except the comment that she "revealed her true character." Her
actions in New Hope are certainly fair game here. I doubt any of us know
anyone's true character, though - that's a personal shot forbidden by the
rules - so best to talk about someone's public conduct and not their true
essence, unknowbable though that may be.

Peter Schmitz's post, while arguable of course, stayed on the right side of
a good thing by focusing on actions rather than personal characteristics,
harsh though his judgment may be.

The list rules - sadly, but also fortunately for my free time - do not
permit me to discipline for partisanship, shallowness or their ability to
inflict boredom.

(The best rule, as always, if you don't like a topic you can: A) respond
within the rules, B) hit the delete key or C) change the subject to
something better [my personal fave].)

As long as you express yourself in a non-personally-insulting,
Minneapolis-specific, non-inflammatory way, you've avoided most of the
common pitfalls of posting.

By the way, don't call people "nitwits" on the list. I've read worse here,
but that does cross the line into insult.

Did I mention send me complaints offlist next time?

Best,
